Thames & Kennet Marina Awarded Prestigious 5 Gold Anchor Accreditation

We’re thrilled to announce that Thames & Kennet Marina has been officially awarded the 5 Gold Anchor accreditation once again from The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA). A mark of excellence in marina standards, this prestigious recognition is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and exceptional service consistently delivered by our marina team.

The award was presented on-site by Hayley Cloke from TYHA, who handed over the official plaque, certificate, and flag, now proudly displayed throughout the marina for all to see.

What is the Gold Anchor Scheme?

The Gold Anchor Scheme is a globally recognised marina accreditation program developed by the industry to raise standards and champion customer-focused service. Think of it as the star rating system for hotels, only for marinas.

With a focus on both infrastructure and service, marinas are assessed across six key areas:

1. Ambience
2. Planning, Policies & Procedures
3. Customer Service
4. Environmental Responsibility
5. On-Water Facilities & Infrastructure
6. On-Shore Facilities & Infrastructure

In addition to a detailed site audit by an experienced assessor, the accreditation process also includes a berth holder survey to gain direct feedback from marina users. Only marinas that meet the high benchmarks across these categories are awarded a Gold Anchor rating, ranging from 2 to 5 anchors, with 5 being the highest possible accolade.

Why It Matters

For boaters, the Gold Anchor flag is a clear signal that a marina not only provides quality amenities but also puts customer satisfaction at the heart of its operations. It’s an assurance of:

• Value for money, regardless of the accreditation level

The Scheme is jointly administered by TYHA and the Marina Industries Association (MIA), making it truly international in scope, with participating marinas across the UK, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and beyond.
