Moorings in the Heart of the East Coast

8 February 2024

The east coast has always been one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK, on both land and water. Norfolk and Suffolk boast rural beauty, stunning landscapes, magnificent castles, and exquisite stately homes. And, of course, the infamous Broads. 120 miles of navigable waterways, made up of seven rivers and 63 broads, offering a unique experience, full of front-row seat moments to an abundance of wildlife in their habitats, landscapes that fill the horizon, and hidden historical gems.

Three of Tingdene Marinas & Boat Sales’ ten UK inland marinas are based on the sought after Norfolk & Suffolk Broads and provide the perfect base to spend your days on the Broads. Waveney, Broadlands, and Brundall Bay Marinas are all closely linked, with premium facilities and fantastic boating communities. Their direct access onto the Broads navigation and easy access to the sea make these marinas somewhat rare and suitable for almost all boaters.

All three of Tingdene’s inland Broads-based marinas offer a unique blend of serene waterways and proximity to the sea, creating an exceptional boating and leisure experience. Despite being nestled inland, the Broads are intricately connected to the sea through a series of tidal rivers and estuaries. Boaters can navigate from the tranquil confines of the Broads to the open waters of the North Sea, allowing for diverse adventures and an option for what kind of pace fits best with your day’s adventure.

The seamless integration of inland waterways and coastal access makes these marinas highly sought after by boating enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking a peaceful retreat. Visitors can meander through picturesque villages, encounter abundant wildlife, and engage in various water-based activities. Whether it’s sailing, fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the serenity of the surroundings, inland marinas near the Broads provide an unparalleled opportunity to explore the heart of the UK’s waterways with comfort, ease, and excitement!

Perfectly placed between both counties, Waveney Marina is home to some of the most stunning scenery the Broads has to offer. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Waveney Valley, the marina is the ideal spot to revel in the quiet life. Savour uninterrupted views across the river and marshes, and delight in the authenticity of the local wildlife to your heart’s content.

As we know, pubs and restaurants are important to boaters. ‘The Waveney Inn’, overlooking the marina, is a cosy water-side family pub to stop and visit to tuck into a reasonably priced menu of locally sourced food. A huge hit with locals and berth holders alike it’s the perfect pit-stop at any point before, during, or after your cruise.

Facing onto Oulton Broad, between the beautiful Suffolk coastline and the world-famous Broads National Park, Broadlands Marina sits ready to welcome in passing boaters. Boasting brand-new floating pontoons and marina facilities, plus with plenty to see and do on site, this is a great stop off or place to base yourself that the whole family will appreciate.

Services on Broadlands Marina are aplenty, and there is just about everything you need to achieve some well-deserved R&R after a long day on the water. Onsite gastropub ‘Moss & Co. Broadlands’, part of a local family-ran restaurant franchise, is very popular with locals, residents, berth holders, and holiday makers. With a menu set to please, a busy events calendar, and fantastic views of the water, there is no better way to spend an afternoon. Alongside all our onsite premium operational facilities, including pump out, fuel, water and electricity to name a few, RYA recognised training centre ‘East Coast Motorboat Training’ is also based at Broadlands Marina. The team provide a wealth of boating knowledge to help start your boating journey or refresh your existing skills to get you back out onto the water as confidently as possible.

Set within 50 acres of picturesque and peaceful parkland in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Brundall Bay Marina is a wonderful spot to relax, unwind and escape the stresses and strains of daily life. One of Tingdene’s largest and most popular marinas, the 4-star Gold Anchor Awarded marina boasts visitor and berth holder facilities in abundance and their boating community is thriving.

Popular eatery ‘East Hills Café & Bistro’ overlooks the idyllic marina, and their diverse menu caters for all. A café by day and a fish restaurant by night during the summer months, spending time here is the ultimate way to unwind.

Brundall Bay Marina gives direct access to endless hours of tranquil cruising on the Broads, with the north Norfolk coastline and Great Yarmouth just a three hour cruise away. From there the open sea and the near continent are at your disposal and ready for you to explore. The choice is well and truly yours!

Brundall Bay Marina is a member of the TransEurope Marinas Group, a network of marinas who offer discounted moorings across Europe. Berth holders have the unique benefit of accessing 50% off visitor mooring rates at over 70 marinas for up to five consecutive days a year, spanning 12 countries and close to 45,000 berths! The opportunity for adventure is endless!

All TransEurope marinas are spaced at a minimum distance of 30nm or a day’s sail away where possible for convenience and shelter, and all marina members are encouraged to meet service and safety standards corresponding to the equivalent of four or five Gold Anchors (issued by TYHA), ensuring the level of service is consistently high across all affiliated marinas.
