Boat Details

Prime Thyme, a 30ft Sea Otter Narrowboat built in 2002. Sea Otter boats are widely regarded as the “Rolls-Royce” of the inland waterways.  Like all Sea Otter Narrowboats, Prime Thyme is built from marine-grade BS5083 aluminium alloy. It is a material commonly used where strength and longevity are required. Aluminium alloy is a material favoured by the majority of small commercial craft builders. Designed in a practical reverse layout, the accommodation begins aft with separate shower and toilet compartments, providing added convenience and privacy. The galley is positioned midships, opposite a single Pullman-style dinette which converts into either a single berth or bunk beds when required. Forward, the saloon features an L-shaped dinette that comfortably seats four and easily converts into a double berth, creating flexible accommodation for cruising. Propulsion is provided by a Yanmar Barrus Shire 21hp diesel engine. Cabin heating is supplied by a Trumatic blown-air heating system with warm air ducts throughout the cabin. Hot water is delivered via the engine calorifier or the 240V immersion heater when connected to shore power. Both 12V and 240V electrical systems are installed onboard for modern convenience. Compact and practical, Prime Thyme is an ideal Narrowboat for weekends away, extended cruising, or those seeking the benefits of Sea Otter’s renowned aluminium construction. Interior Arrangements

Aft Cabin Entrance

Entering the boat via the stern deck leads into a cosy and well organised cabin space. A useful cupboard aft houses the boat’s electrical systems, doubling up as additional storage cupboard for everyday essentials. Further storage cupboards are positioned forward of the bathroom, providing ample space for extended stays aboard.

Bathroom

Prime Thyme benefits from a practical and unusual layout compared with many other Sea Otter Narrowboats. To port is a separate shower compartment, while opposite is a dedicated washroom fitted with a Thetford cassette toilet, a vanity unit with hand basin, and a mirror, providing excellent privacy and convenience.

Galley

The well-equipped galley features laminate worktops, a stainless-steel sink with draining board, a 12V Shoreline fridge with ice box, and a Country Leisure four-burner gas hob, grill and oven. Generous high- and low-level cupboards provide storage for cookware, provisions, and galley essentials.

Pullman-Style Dinette

Opposite the galley is a single Pullman-style dinette with forward- and aft-facing seating. This versatile area converts into either a single berth or bunk beds, providing accommodation for two additional guests. Useful storage is incorporated beneath both seats.

Saloon / Convertible Master Cabin

Located forward, the saloon benefits from direct access onto the bow well deck. Integral bow lockers with seat tops provide a pleasant place to sit and are ideal for al fresco dining, while the gas locker is neatly positioned forward. The saloon features an L-shaped seating arrangement that easily converts into a comfortable double berth. Storage beneath the seating offers an ideal place for bedding and personal belongings, while a corner TV cabinet completes this bright and versatile living space.
