Upton Marina Retains Four Gold Anchor Status for 2019

Upton Marina is pleased to announce that it is has retained its Four Gold Anchors accreditation for the 6th successive time. Being formally presented with their award by Mayor of Upton upon Severn, Councillor Simon Yates, the Marina team are rightfully proud of their achievement.

The Yacht Harbour Association helps people find the perfect marina

Managed by The Yacht Harbour Association in the UK, the Gold Anchor Scheme evaluates marinas against exacting standards across all areas of operation; including facilities, customer service and day-to-day running. It also carries out customer feedback and mystery shopper activities to gain insight into the full customer experience and ensure staff are delivering on all aspects of service.

Marina Manager, Nigel Webster explains: “Retaining our Four Gold Anchor accreditation is very important to us as it recognises the continued efforts of the Upton Marina team. The commitment to customer service is reflected in the high standards we are able to offer our berth holders and visitors, plus the range and level of expertise that is available to them on site.”

Explore the mighty River Severn from Upton Marina

Situated on the mighty River Severn, Upton Marina offers secure pontoon and bankside moorings for all types of craft including narrow boats, Dutch barges and cruisers. It is also home to the Tingdene Boat Sales operation and a fleet of day hire boats. Upton Marina is complete with restaurant, bar, chandlery, toilet and shower facilities and a new laundry block. It is perfectly positioned for those wishing to tour the central inland waterways of the UK.

Commenting on the award, Councillor Yates adds “As a former port and hub of marine transportation Upton has a long history in marine activities. We are thrilled that such a wonderful marina continues to flourish within the town. It is an excellent facility for the community and an asset to local business.”


It’s another 5 Gold Anchors for Tingdene Thames and Kennet Marina in 2019

Thames and Kennet Marina is once again presented with a TYHA Five Gold Anchor accreditation. This makes it the fourth consecutive time they’ve achieved the top accreditation.

The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) administers the Gold Anchor scheme globally along with the Marinas Industry Association. The objective is “raising standards and providing customer centric services”. The accreditation is based on a self and site assessment of 6 categories including ambience, customer service, facilities and environmental. Berth holder surveys contribute to the rating and mystery shopper checks are used during the validity period.

Operations Director for Tingdene Marinas, Steve Arber, received the award for Thames and Kennet marina during this years’ Southampton Boat Show.
