Tingdene Marinas Ltd. Celebrates 20 Years of Excellence in Marina Management

2025 marks a monumental milestone for Tingdene Marinas Ltd., as we celebrate our 20th anniversary in marina management. Over the past two decades, we have expanded our reach and influence across the UK, continually working towards building a reputation for quality, exceptional customer service, and a dedication to maintaining beautiful and functional marinas for all types of boater.

2004 – The Very Beginning

Thames & Kennet Marina

Tingdene Marinas Ltd. began its journey in 2004 with the purchase of Thames & Kennet Marina, which remains our largest marina to date. Although not officially the business name we know of today until the following year, this exciting opportunity launched an era of quick growth and development, leading to the ownership of our ten sites to date. Spanning across the major inland waterways of central and southern England, berth holders’ adventures can hold no bounds.

2005 – A Strong Start

Walton, Pyrford, Brundall, and Upton Marinas

Following the success of Thames & Kennet, Tingdene Marinas Ltd. officially began its journey in 2005, when the next key locations were acquired, and the organisation was officially formed. These key marinas in our collection continue to be at the heart of our operations to this day; Walton Marina on the River Thames, Pyrford Marina on the River Wey, Brundall Bay Marina in the Norfolk Broads, and Upton Marina on the River Severn. The span, quality and offering of all of our five marinas laid the foundation for what would become a legacy of growth for years to come.

Fast-forward to 2020, Upton Marina saw exciting change. The introduction of superior floating homes was established on a man-made lake neighbouring the marina. This meant that site could now operate as a waterside living hub, offering options to spend time by the water for anyone, not just boaters. Now known as Upton Lake & Marina the development allows residents to live with an utterly unique environment. A new concept for the UK, and a proven success for us has led to planned expansion in the very near future.

2006 – Royal Whereabouts

Racecourse Marina Windsor

The following year, our portfolio was further expanded by the acquisition of Racecourse Marina in Windsor. Located in one of England’s superior areas, and ever favoured by the Royals, this venture allowed us to diversify our offerings and cater to a broader range of boating enthusiasts on the Thames. Our most unique marina, overlooking the infamous racecourse itself, was a perfect fit for our ever-evolving collection. In 2018 the site began to offer premium waterside lodges onsite, with marina and racecourse views, meaning those who wanted to spend more time by the water were able to within this sought-after postcode.

2008 – Expansion on the Severn

Stourport Marina

In 2008, Stourport Marina on the River Severn joined the troupe. Known for its beautiful setting along this mighty river, Stourport has become a hidden gem within the collection, offering boaters a tranquil yet convenient location to moor their vessels, and not too far from sister-site Upton Marina.

Broadlands Marina, Oulton Broad

2015 – Broadening Horizons

Broadlands Marina

After a few years of steady growth, Tingdene Marinas took another leap forward in 2015 by acquiring Broadlands Marina in Oulton Broad. Part of a holiday parks site, this exciting new venture meant an array of opportunities were to come for both the marinas business and our sister-company Tingdene Lifestyle; to make the site a multi-use, community-driven setting for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Surrounded by the lush green surroundings of Carlton marshes and with direct access to the Norfolk Broads and the coast, this marina became a jewel in our group. This marina provided us with an even greater opportunity to provide inland boaters on the Broads with access to the rustic beauty if the east coast, and sea-goers easy access to the coastline.

2016 – A Great Triumph on the Great Ouse

Hartford Marina

One year later, and continuing the expansion, 2016 saw the purchase of Hartford Marina, our first on the Great Ouse. Strategically positioned for easy access to a range of waterways throughout the midlands, Hartford Marina provides boaters with a central hub for exploring the beautiful surroundings of East Anglia and beyond.

2021 – The Newest Recruit

Waveney River Centre

In 2021, after a few more years of continued growth, our third and final Broads-based marina, Waveney River Centre was acquired. In conjunction with Tingdene Lifestyle once again, this venture continues to form exciting opportunites for both parts of the business to put our ‘Tingdene’ stamp on the east coast region’s leisure industry once more. An already established facility for locals and visitors to the Norfolk Broads previous to our take-over, and with quick and direct access by water or foot to Broadlands Marina, Waveney was a natural fit for both the marinas and holiday parks portfolios.

Looking Forward to the Future

As Tingdene Marinas Ltd. celebrates its 20th anniversary, we look back on two decades of exceptional growth and achievements with pride and admiration of all our customers throughout the years who show true dedication and passion to boating.

And it won’t stop here – the future is set to be just as exciting. With an unwavering commitment to enhancing our marinas and offering a premium services to their customers at every marina, Tingdene is poised for continued success.

Here’s to another 20 years of growth, success, and unparalleled service in the world of inland marinas. Happy anniversary to us!
