Southampton Boat Show 2023

The Tingdene Marinas & Boat Sales teams are back fresh from another fantastic year at Southampton Boat Show, where, yet again, we were given the unique opportunity to come together with 90,000 of our fellow like-minded boaters and over 700 exhibitors.

After looking forward to the unique excitement the biggest show in boating brings for a whole year, we can confirm that the wait was most definitely worth it! With the sun shining across the marina and bouncing off the array of 650 stunning vessels on show on the first weekend, and the atmosphere filled with a buzz of excitement, live music and DJ sets, great food and so much for customers to explore, it really doesn’t get much better. Although the weather took a turn in the middle of the show, our spirits didn’t, and we were delighted with how many customers refused to let the weather spoil their time at the show. I suppose we all know what the reality boating weather in Britain can be like, after all!

The excitement and enthusiasm every keen boater portrayed was a delight to see, and to recognise familiar faces and lap up the spectacular sights and sounds of the show is always fantastic. There really is no show like it! This year, we have relished in the sights and sounds of pockets of celebration from every corner, which included Delphia’s champagne toast to mindful cruising on opening day, to celebrate and support sustainable and environmentally cruising around the UK’s inland waterways.

Show Features

The show is renowned for being a great day out for any age or level of boating knowledge. Dotted around are challenges and activities taking place the whole family can take part in, exciting expert talks and demonstrations for any burning questions to be answered, product launches and inspirational stories from the water to be shared, and competitions to win some fantastic experiences or prizes.

This year, the live music in the brand new Shipyard was particularly brilliant, with all types of genres and even world famous DJ Judge Jules spinning the decks! Live sport, bars with plenty of choice, and incredible food choices set the show’s celebratory atmosphere. Those looking for a VIP experience could find it easily in the Quayside Club, an oasis of calm and tranquillity with spectacular views across the Solent.  This five-star facility treated guests to a private bar, complimentary drinks, gourmet food and an experience like no other to share with good company.

Down on the water, the amazing line up of new boats of all shapes and sizes did all the talking. A myriad of perfectly polished motor yachts, sailing boats, tenders and speed boats lined the pontoons triumphantly, offering something to explore at every turn. It was a boater’s dream, to say the least.

Something that continues to amaze us ever year is the ability to discover all the latest in marine technology, performance, and design all under one roof at the point of launch. This is something so unique and thrilling for both the customer and industry, and these discoveries were by the abundance at this year’s show. Tingdene Boat Sales were also a part of these exciting new launches this year, with the popular Viking 275 being unveiled in her world debut with an electric engine, something we are incredibly excited about and know our customers will want to embrace.

New for 2023

Exploring the new features of the show was a highlight this year. ‘The Beach Haven & Watersports Lake’, brought to you by our friends Haven Knox-Johnston, was a new addition for 2023, where action-seekers were given the opportunity to try their hand at an array of water sports. We saw many paddleboard across the lake, with some even enjoying a spot of yoga while floating, and others take part (and fail!) in a canoe race against an Olympian. It was definitely a hit with visitors, and we look forward to trying our hand next year! And for those looking for a more relaxed day, a sandy beach chill out area was the perfect place to sit and take in the surroundings.

Tingdene Marinas & Boat Sales at Southampton Boat Show

We had a great response to our boats on show from Viking Cruisers, Maxima, Ranieri, Delphia, Sealine, and RYCK. Particular interest was made with the world debut of the Viking 275 with an E-drive engine, something brand new for Tingedene and Viking as a manufacturer. The Delphia launch celebration for mindful cruising was fantastic to be a part of. We met key industry experts, press, and customers to explore what is the future for sustainability in boating. This is a topic that we are incredibly excited to begin venturing further into throughout the coming months. Visitors kept out marinas and boat brokerage stand very busy throughout the show, and we had some great discussions with new and old friends of Tingdene.

We teamed up with Haven Knox-Johnson to offer a competition to win a Sandbanks style iSUP paddleboard package too, worth over £350. We had lots of interest in this so will look to offer similar at future shows, so keep your eyes peeled. The winner is set to be announced very soon!

May this fantastic sense of cheer, celebration, sunshine, and excitement continue to fill Southampton Boat Show for years to come!
