INITIAL DETAILS 

"Summers Lease" has the style and hull shape of a modem narrow boat, with a 3.66m beam. Shell was constructed by J. L. Pinder & Son, Bromsgrove in 1998. Number welded into starboard counter 190/10/98. A word about the heritage.
This is one of 4 Inspector barges built by Pinder. Previous owner: Sir Christopher Bland bought this boat when as chairman of the BBC, he enjoyed huge success with a BBC production called Summerslease starring Sir John Guilgood. Hence the referencing a quote of Shakespeare :
‘Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough
winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date.”
The subject being a black comedy about a family that move abroad and their adventures.

She is in the process of requiring further fitting out . The original fit was carried out by first owners, She has had 3 owners from new . She features a flat bottom, extending past the side shell forming a wear edge; near vertical side shell folded twice producing constant width tumblehome strake and narrow side deck within the parallel mid body section; almost plumb slightly rounded stem; elliptical stem over counter and swim; cabin sides tumblehome up to radiused coachroof and inset full length handrails. Approximate dimensions not specifically checked or verified; LOA 21.34m; beam 3.66m;. She is black hull below main rubbing strake, black tumblehome strake with cream band, ; black side decks, "teak" planked stemdeck; cabin side port and starboard blue, coachroof cream with an outboard banded edge, hand rails formed of steel tube painted black supported by brass upstands. Coachroof is extended forward, inspection launch fashion over the forward well supported by two brass pillars

Accommodation comprises. Forepeak stowage locker; forward well featuring integral water tanks forming seats, surrounded with curtain canopy, double door access to accommodation. Large open plan saloon containing mostly loose furniture Central located log burner Toilet to starboard (not connected), fixed bar area opposite, side entrance companionways on opposite sides. Full width galley, 'U' shaped to starboard. Bedroom plus en-suite bathroom forward containing shower cubicle, basin in vanity unit and toilet; wardrobes and storage aft, port side door and sliding hatch access up to stemdeck. Superstructure recess contains steering position and access hatch to engine room beneath; hatch and door access to storage locker to starboard. Generator housed in self contained box on extreme aft end. Pram hood style sunshade can be raised over steering position without restricting visibility. This features full sides and is in good order.
