Boat Details

New Ethos is a charming 40ft cruiser stern narrowboat built in 1997 by Mel Davis Boat Builders. Featuring a practical and comfortable forward layout, she is ideally suited to leisure cruising, weekend escapes, or extended holidays afloat. The accommodation is thoughtfully arranged with a convertible master cabin aft, offering port and starboard bench seating that easily transforms into a comfortable across-width double berth, complemented by useful wardrobe storage. Forward of this is a bathroom fitted with a pump-out macerator toilet, followed by a walkthrough galley. The bright and inviting saloon is positioned forward, where port and starboard bench seating converts to provide an additional double berth, allowing the boat to accommodate up to four comfortably. Propulsion is provided by a Beta Marine 37.5hp four-cylinder diesel engine. Cabin heating is supplied via a Propex blown-air central heating system, with ducting throughout the cabin for even warmth, while hot water is delivered via the engine calorifier & 240V immersion. The vessel benefits from both 12V and 240V electrical systems, ensuring modern onboard convenience. A delightful and manageable narrowboat offering four comfortable berths, New Ethos represents an excellent opportunity for those seeking relaxed cruising or a first step onto the waterways. Designed in a forward layout, the master cabin is located aft and features port and starboard bench seating that easily converts into a comfortable across-width double berth. The bed is formed using slide-out bed slats, conveniently stored within the steps leading into the cabin. Ample storage is provided via useful cupboards and hanging wardrobes for personal belongings. The central heating controls are also located within this space.

Bathroom

The bathroom is fitted with a shower, hand basin, and pump-out macerator toilet, providing practical and comfortable onboard facilities suitable for extended cruising.

Galley

The well-appointed walkthrough galley offers everything required for stays aboard. It is equipped with a surface-mounted Vanette 400/2 four-burner gas hob, a built-in matching Vanette GG2200 gas grill and oven below, a sink with draining board, and a gas-powered fridge with ice box. Ample cupboards and drawers provide generous storage, while a starboard-side hatch allows for additional natural light and ventilation.

Saloon

Located forward, the saloon benefits from direct access onto the bow well deck. Built-in port and starboard bench seating converts into a second across-width double berth using slide-out bed slats, conveniently stored behind the steps leading to the bow doors. A removable dining table neatly stows under the gunwale when not in use. Matching corner storage units and a fitted 12V radio provide useful storage and light entertainment, completing this bright and sociable living space.
