Boat Details

For over 100 years Brooms built quality cruising boats for the most discerning yachtsmen, and the company was still under the personal control of the Broom family until 2014. During this period there has been built up a team of craftsmen with unrivalled experience of building the serious cruising boat, which has resulted in today's internationally renowned craft.

The 10/70 is the culmination of this experience, combining in a 35 footer both fast offshore performance with the traditional good handling qualities of Broom craft which also allows them to be used in the confined spaces of inland waterways. Designed by the motor cruiser specialist John Bennett working with the experienced
interior design team of the Broom Aquafibre organisation, the 10/70 provides really comfortable accommodation for up to six people.

One great advantage of buying a Broom boat was the company's unique hand-over service which is carried out by an experienced team working directly from their riverside premises. As the owner you are invited to take delivery and have full instruction on the technical details of the boat and then proceed to river or sea trials. After this any adjustments are made before your boat finally leaves the factory. To ensure further that you fully understand the construction and operation of your Broom boat, owners are welcome to visit the factory to inspect their boat during construction.

Tingdene Boat Sales have brokers with a joint experience of Selling Broom boats in excess of 100 Years and this craft was supplied by one of our Brokers back in 1989 and he has know this vessel since new.


The navigation lights consist of a pair of port and starboard lights, mast head steaming light, stern light and all round anchor light.
There is adequate lighting for the interior of the boat, including an engine room light. A courtesy light is fitted on the sundeck + deck light.

The maximum speeds given are only approximate and are based on the boat having two thirds full water and fuel tanks, five crew and a clean bottom.

Water System
A quiet, powerful pressure system used is in conjunction with a

A strong fibreglass hull moulded under Lloyds approved conditions. Designed to give a comfortable planing
performance. The forward sections have spray deflectors to give a dry running boat. A stout keel gives both protection to the stern gear and good handling at all speeds.Superstructure
A sophisticated one piece moulding incorporating stanchion bases, toe rails, ventilator bases, gas bottle storage and sundeck seating. Constructed with a balsa core for strength and insulation the superstructure is both bolted and bonded to the hull for greater strength.

Fuel Tanks
Two 80 gallon (360 litres) stainless steel fuel tanks are situated in the centre of the boat at the aft end of the engine room.
Water Tanks
One 80 gallon (360 litres) stainless steel water tank is situated aft and filled from the aft deck.
Batteries (12 volt system)
Three sets of batteries are provided. One 12 volt for starting each engine and a separate set for the domestic supply which cannot drain the starting batteries. Both engines are used to charge the batteries through diode splitters. Each engine has a 50 amp brushless alternator.gas water heater to provide hot and cold water to both toilet compartments and the galley

Stern Gear
Heavily constructed 'P' brackets are provided with 1½" dia. stainless steel propeller shafts driving three bladed
propellers. Twin rudders of stout construction are-incorporated.

Steering Gear
A well proved hydraulic steering system gives positive handling at all speeds at both steering positions.

In the interests of safety each outlet below the waterline has a seacock.

The windows are high quality marine windows set in sea water resistant anodised frames. The glass is specially toughened.
Each cabin and toilet has an opening window and there are large sliders in the deck saloon. The exterior windscreen is designed to fold for passing under bridges or road transport.

Gas System
A gas system is incorporated to provide a supply to the cooker and water heater. The cylinders are stored in a separate container on the aft deck which is drained over board.

A full set for each engine is situated in the inside steering consul and the tachometers are repeated at the outside position . Warning alarms are provided for each engine oil pressure and water temperatures. The engines can also be started and stopped at both steering positions.
There are separate gauges for each fuel tank and also the water tank.
The gear and throttle controls are the well proven Morse type.


The aft deck sundeck on Kaikoura is entirely covered by a owner designed rear canopy allowing use of this area as an enlargement to the interior accomodation.

The Rear deck features 3 GRP locker boxes all with storage. the central one being removeable to give access to the rear boarding ladder. All 3 have fitted cushions.
The gantry mast, canopy frame and screens all fold to allow navigation beneath the lowest of bridges.

The helm seat and copilot seat both have reversibile backrests to allow the rear area to be a very social area accommodating 8 people in comfort.

Leading forward from the aft deck the side decks have 1 step down amidships and the fore deck is gently sloped to give an excellent area for lounging and a good safe workable area. 

Fore Cabin
The forward cabin of the 10/70 features 2 single berths in a V shape with headboards aft, each with a bedside lights, There is a large wardrobe to port and storage beneath each berth.

Fore Toilet
A full GRP lined wet room fitted with shower, wash basin and toilet, a opening window gives good ventilation.

Set to the starboard side opposite the Forward toilet with excellent overhead light from the saloon windows. Of U shape design with twin sinks, Oven, hob and Fridge. Ample storage in a double cupboard below the work tops, Crockery slots, Cutlery drawer and sliding fronted over cupboard.

The 1070 is renowned for a spacious deck saloon with seating to starboard in a U shape design, this converts to a double berth by use of 3 stools set forward which can also be used for additional seating. A High low table is sited amidships. To the port are louvered front storage cupboards and a shelf over, an internal helm seat is available but is removed at present. Aft a spiral design staircase gives access to both the aft deck and aft cabin with a full handrail for safety.
The entire flooring lifts to gain access to the engines, generator, batteries, holding tank pump and water systems.

Rear Cabin
The rear cabin of the 1070 features a centrally located French berth with storage to both port and starboard in drawers, with a full height wardrobe with hanging rail on the port side

Boats can be taken out of the water for hardstanding storage. There is a marine engineering company on site who can help with servicing and boat maintenance work.

Berths are available on our fully floating pontoons.  Water and electricity are also available on all pontoons
